The SEcond Annual Betsy/FIU Exile studies Yiddish Culture Symposium
November 12, 2016 from 9am to 9pm
“Yiddish is today receiving attention from the non-Jewish scholarly community as a real language, and not as the "corrupted tongue" that it was considered throughout history. Many universities worldwide offer courses and even degree programs in Yiddish linguistics, and the literature of the Yiddish cultural period is receiving attention for its astute depiction of contemporary Jewish existence." (Jewish Virtual Library)
JAHLIT is proud to partner with The Betsy Hotel PACE program to present a pre-conference Yiddish Culture Program on Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 9AM to 9PM. We invite JAHLIT scholars to come early and participate in this event. If you are a Yiddish Studies scholar or an artist creating work that relates to or evolved from Yiddishkeit, we welcome your inquiry to participate and/or present. Write to Deborah Briggs for more information.
